Connecting body, mind and spirit

A self-made Musician, he is also a explorer searching different sounds with Prehispanic instruments made by himself, in birds bones and feathers, clay, reed, stone and others materials.

The Artist's mission is helping people to find themselves as human beings and to understand that there is a reason for everyone’s existence, is the artist’s drive: “Every being is alive, but the thinking quality in the human beings puts them out of touch with reality too many times. I believe that you can make a connection between body, mind and soul through music, that can be a harmonizing unity.”

Urbay believes in the genetic memory and he uses Andes iconography and master plants for recovering the Ancient Sounds, which are not play for any community of the Andes currently. Emilio Urbay ending up as a medium between the instruments and the millenary sounds they produce. Regarding this, the artist dismisses the notion of being particularly gifted: it’s the instruments themselves the harmonizers able to connect the soul with its surroundings, in his own opinion.

Urbay's Compositions

Composer: Emilio Urbay
Based on a Andean tale so old that it is lost in time, it tells the legend of a bird that teaches men to sing when they invent the musical instruments. One of those men dreamt of this mysterious, rather shapeless bird, mother of all birds, which taught him the melodies by uttering its own sounds. After he woke up, the man began to teach the others the sounds he had listened to in his dream –and that is the reason why today the bird continues to show up in dreams to the men who play wind instruments, so they can learn the magical and mantric sounds from its soul.

Musical Therapy: "Harmonizing the Senses through Ancestral Sounds"

"Surrounded by the scents of palo santo and copal, and the sounds of pututos, drums, bones and other pre-Columbian instruments, noted musician Emilio Urbay conducts music therapy sessions to get every participant to connect their own soul with the mind and the body. Once connected, the tobacco blow together with the reproduction of sea sounds (which evoke the origin of life) affect and forge an individual kind of catharsis and harmony already on this early stage. Later, the participants will get a total relaxation and eventually a meditation, invoking the spiritual masters to help finally reaching a
